AND ABRAM WAS VERY RICH

Genesis 13:1-4 reminds us that God had blessed Abram greatly in cattle, silver and gold. Abraham had trials and tribulations, opportunity mixed with difficulty and through it all verse 4 declares that Abram remembered to worship the Lord.

This verse was just after a time when Abram was fearful and did not trust in God completely. But since Abram called upon the name of the Lord (v4) and confessed his sin, God obviously forgave him and continued with him. Abram had shown his weakness to Lot and other companions and it would now cause a loss of admiration of Abram.

It is good to remember that God remembers our sin no more when we confess to Him and ask for forgiveness. It is often those around us that continue to remember our shortcomings and hold on to memories that we would like them to forget.

Part of our responsibility is to forgive each other as God does us. Even when others are unforgiving of us, we can rest in the peace that God accepts us and loves us as if we had no sin at all. Praise the Lord. “If God be for us, who can be against us.”

God does not expect us to keep the law perfectly or He would not have provided a Savior. God does expect that we will call upon His name and be not afraid to admit our mistakes so that He can restore us. It is for this reason that we should never forget to worship and remember humbly our dependence upon God’s mercy.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank you for accepting me as I am. Forgive me for my sins of omission and commission. I put my trust in your love and forgiveness. I place all of my fears and dreads at your feet. Walk with me each day and bless me as I seek to do your will. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

Complete Year’s Bible Reading

Note: Let me suggest that you read this in a King James Version. This version, in my opinion, is the closest to the original text. Do not use the New King James Version. Go to this link to learn more why this is so important:  http://www.christianmissionconnection.org/html/study_topics.html.

Tip: If you get behind in reading or you are just joining us, don't try to catch up by reading all that you missed, just pick up on that day's reading and go on.
